Darren Smith is the technical expert behind the construction of Flying Foam’s brewery concepts.
He has more than 30 years experience in the construction world having worked on notable projects both overseas and in Australia. These include the Four Seasons Hotel Resort on Sentosa Island in Singapore, restaurants and taverns throughout Western Australia and 10 breweries in Australia and China.
Darren’s extensive and diverse experience across building services, construction, hospitality and particularly the brewing industry ensures Flying Foam can deliver on their consultancy advice at the highest level.
Darren began his working career in 1986 with one of Perth’s leading building services consulting firms and over five years, grew from project engineer to project manager.
In 1991, at the age of 27, Darren was head-hunted by a multi-disciplined contracting group in Singapore for the position of General Manager for one of their companies.
Within a year, Darren’s role was expanded to include Group Construction Manager, with a combined work force greater than 500 and group turnover in-excess of US$30 million per annum.
During the five years he spent in Singapore, he delivered the Four Seasons Hotel Resort on Sentosa Island, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Hotel, Pontiac Marina and the AIA Office Building.
On returning to Perth in 1995, Darren began developing his own consulting and construction companies and has since delivered numerous commercial, industrial, resource, residential, telecommunication and hospitality projects.
His involvement in the craft brewing industry began in 1998 while working closely with one of the world’s leading brewery manufacturers.
Over the past 20 years Darren and his team have delivered numerous café’s, restaurants, taverns and designed and built 10 breweries in Australia and China.
The sum of this experience across the construction industry and two decades involved in working with the brewery and hospitality industries provides Flying Foam with a unique skill base for their consultancy business.
